Unlocking the Happy, Positive in You

I strongly believe that the ability to be happy is within all of us. No matter what challenges you face and what trauma you have experienced in your life, you have the power within you to be happy.

How do you get from a dark place to a place of happiness and positivity? Well the journey isn’t always easy and sometimes we need some help negotiating the bends and turns along that road. The Chinese philosopher Laozi (c 604 bc - c 531 bc) said a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step – however he didn’t say you had to take that step alone or that any of the miles along the way you couldn’t have help or hitch a ride.

When we break an arm we get a specialist to mend it, so why when we suffer emotionally do we think we have to struggle alone and that it is weak to get help? Bones that aren’t mended correctly, can cause more problems in the future and hinder us. It is my belief that the same is true of the mind and emotional problems. Yes we might mend ok, but we might also have underlying problems that never go away, unless we fix them.

That’s where people like me come in. I’m Jayne May and I’m a qualified hypnotherapist, neuro-linguistic practitioner and a stress and well-being specialist. I believe that we can all find balance, emotional well-being and our ‘happy’ and sometimes it is easier to find it with the help of someone else. That someone doesn’t tell you the answers but helps guide you to finding the route that best takes you to your good place. Why am I passionate about helping you and how could I even know where to begin? Well quite simply I have had many experiences on my life journey where everything has looked bleak, and I could do nothing about it. I have suffered from anxiety and negative thought processes that held me back, both physically and emotionally. I have also been through divorce and loss.

So I feel I can offer some empathetic support as I may have been there, so understand what it feels like. I personally found a way out of that negativity into a more positive and happy headspace through learning about my triggers and how to reprogramme my negative thoughts and attitude. The journey took me into therapist training. Which is why I set up my practice, so I could pass on my experiences and knowledge and help others.

I am passionate about helping you find the pathway to change your mindset and move forward with your life. I believe that each of us is capable of that, but that each of us is responsible for how we make that journey. By making that journey we free ourselves of much of the baggage that holds us back. We improve our own stress levels and the quality of life for those around us as our relationships improve too.

When we take responsibility for our own wellbeing we stop putting the responsibility on spouses, partners, children or friends for our happiness; which is an unfair burden and something that they are likely to fail at, as they aren’t mind readers and have their own lives, hopes, dreams, ambitions and needs to take care of too. The funny thing is when we stop making them responsible for how we feel, they generally make us happier anyway, as our attitude, interaction and expectations with them change for the better and we reduce the pressure they feel when they are around us.

At Clear Pathway I aim to provide you with the tools and techniques you need to make the changes you desire. Basically I help you clear your life’s path (and this is where my work really helps as your path is an individual as you are). I aim to help you reframe your past experiences and view them in a different light and use them as opportunities for personal growth. As each path to happiness is different I tailor each session to your needs, your situation and what suits you. I also work to arm you with the tools to continue helping yourself after you have finished working with me.

Many physical symptoms we get, such as headaches, stomach upsets are a physical manifestation of an emotional or stress trigger. At Clear Pathway I can help you identify what those triggers are and how you can overcome or deal with them, thereby dealing with the cause, symptom and the stress effectively.I am a strong believer that therapies of the mind are as an effective if not more effective treatment for certain physical symptoms than medication alone and that if you treat the underlying cause then the physical symptom may go away. In my opinion we should treat people in a holistic way and Clear Pathway’s mindfulness therapies can help you explore if this approach is for you.
